Monica’s practice focuses on complex commercial and construction defect litigation, commercial real estate and business transactions, and insurance coverage review and recovery. She has experience representing clients from business formation to all stages of litigation, including discovery, pre-trial motion practice, alternative dispute resolution, and appellate review.
Monica advises both small business clients in the start-up phase, as well as established international corporations looking to expand to the U.S. market. In addition to assisting clients with formation, Monica provides counsel to clients navigating the contract negotiation process, resolves disputes during the course of construction, and prosecutes or defends claims in litigation. Her experience also includes reviewing insurance policies for clients, engaging the participation of insurers when losses occur, and managing the claims adjustment process through to successful resolution.
Monica serves as a Washington State Bar Association young lawyer liaison to the International Practice Section, and she coordinates the International Practice Section’s mentorship program. She also volunteers as a pro bono attorney for the King County Bar Association’s Neighborhood Legal Clinics and the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.
Monica earned her law degree from the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University of America. She served as a published member and editor of The Journal of Contemporary Health Law and Policy. Monica holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University, where she graduated with high honors in Spanish.
